dining tables & benches

dining table :
my very 1st build
01/24/2011-02/13/2011
I had been patiently waiting for a visit from my brother-in-law to build me a table.

Much to my surprise, he wrote up detailed plans (including drawings) for me to attempt to make the table on my own. I was both thrilled and scared.

Fast forward to a few years later, I was tired of the table I had been using for way too long. I decided to revisit the table plans and made the decision to give it a try.

And I actually did it; I built my dream table. After that, I felt I could build anything.

beachy table:
for a friend
07/02/2012-07/15/2012
Once I started showing friends the table I built, I began receiving requests for their own dream table.

This one was fun because it was for a friends beach condo. She wanted me to paint it with some very beachy colors with a blue bench to match.

dining table:
harlequin
04/22/2013-05/06/2013
Talk about a whimsical piece.
It was so much fun to paint. I really wish I had the decor to pull this one off in my house.
dining table:
bar height
09/15/2013-09/29/2013
So while holding a jewelry party at my home, one of the ladies there fell in love with my table. She asked if I could make her one, but she wanted it bar height. She had chairs she planned to use with it already. The 2nd photo is the table completed with her chairs.

dining table:
farm house
03/10/2014-03/24/2014
I am always inspired to build something I have never built before. I was so excited when a friend asked me if I could make her family a farmhouse table.

It was a style I had been hoping to build at some point. She wanted a cherry stain to match her home style.

One of my favorites to date.
dining table:
break room
07/30/2014-08/16/2014
My husband's office was in need of a few tables. The 1st one I made was the break room table and bench, so everyone had somewhere to enjoy their lunch.
I made almost identical to my "dream table". I made two other tables for the office as well. You can see those in the "everything else" section.

dining table:
14ft table with best friend
06/29/2019-07/06/2019
An amazing project to complete with one of my best friends. I am so lucky that she loves a fun project, as much, if not more than me. She wanted a 14ft table and two benches for her craft space.

We completed it while on a week long visit there over the summer.

We had time to stain/paint the table and benches too. She finished with top coat after I left.

This has been my favorite build thus far!

bench:
bedframe bench
06/19/2014-06/30/2014
While out hitting yard sales with my daughter one Saturday, we came upon this queen sized bedframe for only $20. I figured this was my chance to make a bench out of it.

Although this was something I had no room for inside the house. I decided to make it for the front porch.

bench:
son's apartment
07/15/2016-07/25/2016
With my son moving out of his college dorm for his junior year, we were giving him all furniture that he could use.
He needed two benches to go with the kitchen nook table.

I used all my wood scraps to come up with a couple designs where I didn't need to buy any more wood, since we were also moving.
bench:
outdoor sectional
03/03/2014-03/11/2014
We needed our outdoor furniture (love seat and two chairs) replaced. I wanted to reuse the cushions instead of having to throw everything out.
I drew up a plan that would allow that. Then I recovered the cushions with outdoor fabric.

I built a small table to use next to it as well.

bench:
cozy chaise
09/12/2016-09/19/2016
I always wanted a cozy chaise lounge in our bedroom. I purchased several old coffee sacks while antiquing with friends and figured this was a great way to use a few of them.

I also used a vintage blanket to cover a piece of purchased foam to use as the seat cushion.

I used leftover scraps of the blanket to recover a bolster pillow I already had. It is now my favorite spot to sit and read with a cup of coffee.
bench:
2 chairs/1 bench
12/01/2015-12/07/2015
While taking the dogs for a walk in the neighborhood on the night before trash pickup, my daughter and I saw two chairs at the curb for pickup.
As soon as we got home, we drove over and loaded them up to bring home for a project.

I saw a few versions of chairs made into benches and decided this was my chance to try it out.

This project gets moved to every new home with us.

bench:
bookshelf bench
02/10/2020-02/13/2020
There was an empty space in my sons new room that had been bugging me. I had a few leftover wood boxes from Michael's that weren't being used.

I decided to make a small bench to place against that wall that could also be used to hold books, etc....
