basement remodel
Long story short, we moved to Illinois and bought a home that had a huge basement that was basically unfinished (besides the salon room that was down there)
I had never been more excited in my life!
For 2 reasons. One,I had always wanted a home with a basement and two it was my blank canvas to do with what I wanted.
Since parts were framed as if they had planned to do something, we decided to make it a huge Rec room, 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, craft room and a workroom for me.
I installed all the drywall (yes, I did the mudding, taping and sanding),painted all walls, framed and installed walk in closet, among other things.
Below are a few of the pieces I built in the basement.

remodel:
dartboard wall and barn door
05/03/2018-05/08/2018
This barn door is also in the barn door section on my website.

The actual dartboard I bought at an estate sale. I had been looking for an older one with doors. I put the wood behind it so that when people like me played, we would hit the wood and not damage the drywall.

I used some scrap wood in different sizes and stained them a few different shades.
remodel:
back of bar/
storage cabinet
03/03/2018-03/13/2018-cabinet
04/10/2018-04/24/2018-bar

On the left is the back of the bar. I wanted some shelving so I could also use for storage.

I used different style baskets to store items on the shelves. The cabinet to the right of the bar, I built to fit perfectly in the space that had already been framed in to fit the mini fridge.

I added three decorative shelves above using plumbers piping and wood.

remodel:
side of bar
04/10/2018-04/24/2018
remodel:
front of bar
04/10/2018-04/24/2018
Photo to left: The bar design I came up with by integrating two bars I saw and loved.I wanted a nice clean and simple look. I stained with a grey stain.

Photo below: This angle lets you see how far out the bar was built. I made the counter piece on the inside of the bar a little lower.

remodel:
bathroom vanity, mirror
and toilet shelf
12/01/2017-12/18/2017

The vanity and mirror were fun builds, the toilet shelf was more just because of all the space between wall and toilet. I used part of a old barn door.
For the mirror, I framed it using leftover shluter that was used when tiling the bathtub.

I wanted bathroom to continue the industrial
feel of the entire basement.

remodel:
built-in
wall bench
This bench was only built because there was a 6" piece of concrete that stuck out from the wall (part of the basement foundation). My solution was to build a bench to hide it.

Which worked perfect my more seating and storage near the pool table.
I painted it the bright yellow to match the barn door.

before and after of basement stairs
07/20/2018-07/23/2018

Come on who doesn't want a bare set of stairs to paint, stain or just get creative with.

My weird side fell in love with these mouse stickers I found through Pinterest.

I stained the tread and painted the risers, installed runner carpet, then attached all the mice and mice holes.
I hope to do again if we ever have a basement again.
